Meet the Author

C J Hilditch is a fantasy author with a deep love for immersive worlds, flawed heroes, and the quiet, powerful ways grief and hope can coexist. Born with a vivid imagination and a bookshelf that never stopped growing, she writes stories for readers who want more than just magic, for those that want meaning.

By day (and let's be honest, sometimes night), she works as a veterinary surgeon, and in between, she crafts stories where strange creatures roam, magic whispers through the trees and survival is as much emotional as it is physical.

Her debut novel, Sacrificial, was inspired by a few scribbled pages found in her late mother’s notebook, a story that never had the chance to be finished. In continuing that tale, CJ discovered a world of her own: rich in lore, haunted by memory and filled with unexpected courage.

When she’s not writing about parallel worlds, magical forests, and slightly unhinged creatures with attitude, she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in hand, a cat on her lap, or lost in her local woodlands with her dog, plotting what comes next.

She believes in found family, fierce kindness, and the power of storytelling to make us feel seen, even in the darkest and strangest of places.

A woman with long dark brown hair is walking through the forest. A magical creature is perched on her shoulders; it has the body of a snake but the face of a little black cat.
A row of stone clad shops nestled between trees.
A magical creature, The Rau, it has the face of a little black cat and a long snake-like body.
A town white washed cottages and winding cobbled streets
